    Colombo Arbitration Week 2023

Colombo Arbitration Week (CAW) 2023 is the second edition of Sri Lanka’s most anticipated annual ADR event that brings together local and international stakeholders from the region. The event is a recognised platform for attendees to explore the latest developments, challenges, and reforms, aimed at shaping the future of ADR in the region.

The week-long event commences on 6 August 2023 and will go on until 13 August 2023. This year’s line up features specially curated experts discussing the latest on the questions of public policy, technology and innovation in ADR, transparency, accountability, and ethics in ADR proceedings, and the role of exclusive jurisdiction clauses in contracts.

The highlight of CAW 2023 is anticipated to be the newly introduced Practitioners Assembly, falling on the last two days of the week. The assembly is a novel platform for professionals to discuss the island’s legislative framework for ADR under protocol similar to that of the UNGA. During this forum, delegates will have the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Sri Lanka’s legal landscape, exploring the key reforms, recent developments, and pit-falls within the realm of arbitration. The assembly aims to produce a series of recommendations to be submitted to the relevant stakeholders.
